This is for the procurement of a quadrupole - based ICP-MS system for Aberystwyth University. It is assumed that all tenders submitted by interested suppliers will be based on instruments which incorporate a collision or reaction cell within the ion beam of the mass spectrometer. The requirement is for a versatile and robust instrument that can be easily switched between solution mode and (at least) laser ablation mode as well as having the capability to function with e.g. ion chromatography as a source. The instrument must be easy to operate and maintain. A solution autosampler is an essential part of the tender as is the ability of the instrument to cope with high levels of dissolved solids (using a method recommended by the instrument manufacturer).
