QU555 - Relationship with Ageing Focus Groups - AWARD

The Council's Public Health Team are looking to commission a series of focus groups in Birmingham, with the overarching aim to gain a deeper insight into different population group's relationship with getting older and their values and priorities associated with the ageing process. The specific challenges facing less well-reached population groups will also be explored. The findings of these groups will inform the ongoing work of the older adult's team for 2022/23 and beyond, including the older adult's strategy that will incorporate a preventative approach and provide longer term priorities. Findings will also be shared, with the aim of supporting our partners in their local work. The Council are seeking to fund up to 15 different focus groups listed below: Lot A - Ex-prisoners Lot B - Black African (including Somali, Eritrean, Ugandan) Lot C - South Asian (including Indian, Pakistani and Bangladeshi) Lot D - Black Caribbean Lot E - First or second-generation migrants Lot F - Homeless people, including rough sleepers and those living in temporary accommodation Lot G - Veterans Lot H - Younger person forward reflective group (aged 40 and below) Lot I - People of working age with 2 or more long term health conditions including mental health conditions or physical disability e.g. diabetes, COPD Lot J - 'Just managing' individuals at or below the Minimum Income Standard (MIS) Lot K - Unpaid carers, including those caring for individuals with dementia Lot L - Recent diagnosis of dementia Lot M - LGBT+ Lot N - Community groups of interest not specified above.
