Self Service: Self-service is being used to allow staff to be redeployed to other services; to extend opening hours and to enable library services to be provided in new locations, frequently on a multi-functional basis.Security: Open access to the stock requires security measures to be in place to prevent the theft of stock and ensure that all loans are properly recorded in the library management system.Stock Management: The RFID tag should perform the essential functions needed to ensure a secure lending, return and reservation management process for all types of stock.Linkage to other RFID systems. i.e Smart Cards – pre-payment systems: The systems will need to allow for investigating how the pre-payment system can be extended/allow for automatic small-value payments to a range of service suppliers. (Both CCC and external)The system will help us do more with fewer resources, reduce materials handling by up to 90%, relieve staff from some of the most tedious, repetitive tasks and provide customers with better services and a friendlier, more rewarding library experience.It also aims at saving time, effort and money as regards the main services provided by the public libraries to its members such as lending and returning books, search for library materials as well as arranging and organizing them.
