Rapid Response Plan: Prison Management Support for British Overseas Territories

Conditions for participation:The FCO funds relief efforts in British Overseas Territories (BOT) and other locations in the event of natural disasters and emergencies such as hurricanes, and wishes to be able to contract with prison operators to provide support primarily to BOT prisons but also others further afield, if necessary in the event of a natural disaster or emergency. In the aftermath of the 2017 hurricanes, damage to the physical infrastructure of prisons and reduced availability of local staff resulted in the need to deploy emergency operational staff to ensure the effective and secure management of prisons. The support ranged from 3-4 week deployments, to longer term provision of Custodial Prison Officers to support to return to pre-emergency levels of security, staffing and infrastructural integrity.
