Real Time Passenger Information Display Estate CPU1770
Descriptions
Oxfordshire’s bus Real Time Passenger Information (RTPI) system, branded ‘Oxontime’, has been in operation since 2006; providing bus passengers with real time service information across the County. A display upgrade was completed in 2016, introducing a standard hardware platform across the display estate. The existing RTPI system benefits from a strong project partnership comprising the County Council and the major local bus operators: Oxford Bus Company, Stagecoach, Thames Travel and Arriva. The system covers the majority of local bus services within the County of Oxfordshire, as well as cross boundary services covering neighbouring areas and coach services to central London, Gatwick and Heathrow airports. Some 268 bus stop displays of various types are operational, communicating via the mobile phone network. Due to variations in network signal strength across the County, SIM cards from different mobile phone network providers are used. The core objective of this contract is to sustain and extend the life of the Display Estate, in accordance with the specified performance requirements, whilst enabling the Council to utilise any opportunities to fund additional RTPI display infrastructure through developer agreements.
