Descriptions
The works comprise the remodeling of the traffic arrangements/road layouts on and around the Tawe River Bridges in Swansea. The river bridges form part of the main traffic routes in and out of the City and carry large volumes of traffic during peak hours.The works require the re- configuration of 4 complex key road junctions and adjoining/approach links. This includes removal and replacement of traffic signals, road construction, kerbing, footways, traffic islands, drainage and ancillary street furniture. The works also include structural works to the Quay Parade Bridge working over the tidal River Tawe.Extensive traffic management will be required to undertake the works to ensure traffic flows are maintained.Along Quay Parade high quality natural stone materials are detailed for wide footways and central reservation areas including the installations of tree avenues.Under this procurement the contractor will be required to support the contracting authority's economic and social regeneration objectives. Accordingly contract performance conditions may relate in particular to social and environmental considerations.
