University Station currently serves University of Birmingham and Queen Elizabeth Hospital, serving c. 3 500 000 passengers per annum. University of Birmingham will play a key role in the Commonwealth Games which are due to be held in Birmingham in 2022.Outline design works are being undertaken to provide a station that can accommodate the increased passenger demand and provide a facility that is in keeping with the University of Birmingham’s development vision.The West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) is seeking to procure a design and build contract (GRIP 5-8), via a Competitive procedure with negotiation (CPN) with the option to: reduce the number of bidders by down-selection (by applying award criteria) and award on the basis of initial tenders. These options will be applied by the West Midlands Combined Authority as and when appropriate.Please note that the West Midlands Combined Authority reserves the right to amend the above.
