Remediation works for the National Horizon Centre, Darlington
Descriptions
The works comprise site remediation works for a proposed new research and teaching facility. This involves the removal of two historic spoils heaps within the site curtilage. It is the intention to remove the mounds down to a level appropriate to the surrounding ground level in accordance with the levels identified by the project engineer. In order to facilitate the mound removal it will be necessary to remove small areas of invasive plant species in the form of Giant Hogweed and Japanese Knotweed. The site is located to the south of The Centre for Professional and Executive Development, a Teesside University building on Vicarage Road, DL1 1JW. (National Grid Reference NZ 29716 14732) The National Horizons Centre project is receiving up to £3.2m of funding from the England European Regional Development Fund as part of the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme 2014-2020. The Department for Communities and Local Government (and in London the intermediate body Greater London Authority) is the Managing Authority for European Regional Development Fund. Established by the European Union, the European Regional Development Fund helps local areas stimulate their economic development by investing in projects which will support innovation, businesses, create jobs and local community regenerations.
