From the Site Investigations carried out by confined space trained operatives engaged by the City and County of Swansea it is necessary to undertake urgent repairs to the Barrage Sluice Gates and associated elements in Penstock Chambers 1, 3 and 4 together with removing the non essential and deteriorated access ladders and platforms in Penstock Chambers 1, 2, 3 and 4.The main works consist of the installation of Employer provided stop-logs to the Penstocks, dewatering of the lock barrel fully, maintaining the stop logs and Lock Gates as water tight, provide pumping to maintain barrel and chamber working space. Removal of hydraulics and power packs with the Clients assistance. Removal of sluice gates and associated elements or similar to undertake all works.The Contractor shall carry out an inspection of all items and with the Project Managers approval undertake any repair, replacement or refurbishment to sluice gate items, supporting framework or associated components as necessary.The Contractor will also be required to raise the Marina Inner North gate which has dropped by a sequential course of works that can only be determined by physical site investigation requiring attendance by a Dive Team.The Contractor will also be required to replace the Barrage Inner East hydraulic cylinder and both East and West gate bottle pins.
