The aim of this tender is to identify a suitable Contractor to undertake research into the viability of a Mediation and Training Centre of Excellence for Wales, and scope potential delivery models should the business case be proven.Key drivers that are increasing the need and demand for Mediation services include changes to the Legal Aid system and the Ministry of Justice’s commitment to encouraging businesses to use Mediation as an alternative to Courts and Tribunals in terms of cost, time and quality of resolution.While Mediation is a growing sector offering a quicker, lower cost alternative to litigation, the profession has currently no widely agreed standards that Mediators must reach before practising. Benefits of an expanded, professionalised Mediation sector in Wales could include the diversification of income within the Legal Services sector through attracting and developing talent into a new career pathway in Wales as well as attracting new business from the rest of the UK. However, there is currently no evidence base to support these assumptions and this project offers the opportunity to test the concept and scope delivery models.
