Respect At Work Linguistic Analysis
Descriptions
Linguistic analysis requirement to review language and discourse used in staff survey submissions. This analysis will feed into the development of new staff behavious standards and expections across the business. In 2018 an independent review of how HMRC culture reflects its values (we are professional, we act with integrity, we show respect and we are innovative) was carried out. In February 2019, the findings of the 2018 review were published. A key recommendation of the report was to develop a clear set of behaviour standards and expectations. HMRC are approaching the development of these standards and expectations as a co-creation exercise with its staff, via the form of an online questionnaire containing 12 free-text boxes. This will promote ownership and engagement across the organisation. We estimate that we will receive approximately 500 (+/-10%) survey submissions for analysis. HMRC requires linguistic analysis expertise to examine the language and discourse used within the replies of the HMRC Respect at work Survey, by HMRC staff. We will then use the results of this analysis and the insight it provides, to develop a set of ambitious and challenging standards and expectations of the behaviour which will apply to all staff across HMRC.
