Caerphilly County Borough Council (CCBC) has recently secured funding from the Welsh Government’s Rural Community Development Fund (which is part of the Welsh Government’s Rural Communities – Rural Development Programme and is funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and the Welsh Government) to undertake restoration works at the Babell Chapel, Cwmfelinfach. On this basis CCBC is seeking to appoint a contractor to undertake refurbishment works on the Babell Chapel in Cwmfelinfach.Listed Building Consent has been obtained from Cadw and the tender drawings, schedule of works and contract terms and conditions (JCT Minors Works) have been prepared and are attached to this notice.The Babell Chapel was originally built in 1827 to serve the members of its rural community. It is a typical small rural chapel with few embellishments except for arched windows and the pulpit.The chapel’s principal point of interest is its association with the Welsh poet Islwyn. The Chapel is under the control of Caerphilly County Borough Council which has a long-term lease on the building.The main aim of the project is to restore the building for beneficial community use and therefore secure its long-term future. As part of this, the proposed restoration works include providing a new toilet and undertake other works detailed in the tender drawings and schedule of works.In addition to the tender drawings, the following documents are also available on request:- Listed Building Consent Decision;- Heritage Impact Assessment.It will be essential for the successful tenderer (including any individuals/team(s) commissioned by the tenderer for this project) to bring to the project:- Demonstrable capability to undertake all aspects of this project, in particular having the credibility and proven expertise in the type of work;- Knowledge of the building techniques associated with the works;- Extensive and current experience of working on similar projects on similar tight deadlines;- Effective project and business planning skills.The work of the successful Tenderer will be overseen by Hurley & Davies Chartered Surveyors and Architects and CCBC.The successful Tenderer (including any individuals/team(s) commissioned by the Tenderer for this project) will be required to work with the local community to minimise disruption as a result of the works.The successful Tenderer may engage sub-contractors to fulfil this project and details of these sub-contractors will be required as part of the Tender submission where appropriate.Where sub-contractors are utilised the successful Tenderer must:- Ensure they are competent to carry out the work (including having the correct qualifications and experience);- Ensure they are fully briefed on the requirements of the contract including any health and safety matters, high risk work and site specific risks and restrictions;- Monitor their performance and take action where appropriate.NOTE: To register your interest in this notice and obtain any additional information please visit the Sell2Wales Web Site at https://www.sell2wales.gov.wales/Search/Search_Switch.aspx?ID=88148.
