RHYD DDU OUTDOOR CENTRE ACCOMMODATION,THIS OPPORTUNITY IS FOR SOCIAL ENTERPRISES ONLY DUE TO THE NATURE OF THE FINANCE OF THE SCHEME.DescriptionGwynedd Council is looking for providers in the Outdoor field to undertake the work of providing accommodation at the Rhyd Ddu Outdoor Centre, Rhyd Ddu, Caernarfon for Gwynedd and Anglesey schools.The Rhyd Ddu Outdoor Activities Centre is located at the foot of Snowdon.The facilities are of basic standard for promoting outdoor activities which include accommodation facilities for 27 individuals.Gwynedd Council has been successful with an application for grant funding from Cyfenter. This grant will be used to invest in renovating the building i.e. dealing with the damp problems, new windows etc.A lease will be offered to the successful provider for a period of 25 years, with an opportunity to break the lease after five years. More information is available in the information pack.Gwynedd and Anglesey schools make extensive use of the building from March until the end of October, during school term time, excluding weekends. It is a condition of the plan that provision for schools is a priority. We see this as an opportunity for providers to be able to develop the outdoor offer beyond the schools’ priorities, i.e. weekends and outside school term time.It is essential that the new provision can ensure that there is an element of heritage to the building i.e. that it was the home of TH Parry Williams, the son of the School Master, who was born in the schoolhouse in 1887. The main aim would not be to generate profit, and normally it would be a company limited by guarantee, a community benefits company, a registered charity or a constituted community group. An enterprise of the sort would have a clear understanding of its 'social vision’, meaning that it would know what difference it is trying to make, who it is trying to help and how it intends to do this. Its entire income, or most of it, would come from selling goods or services that have a social effect. A Social Enterprise would also have clear rules regarding what it does with its profits, by re-investing it to develop its social vision. You might think – other than what it does with its profits – how does a Social Enterprise differ from a private business? The answer lies with the ownership and management or ‘governing methods’ of the enterprise. A successful Social Enterprise will display extensive governing methods, including a wide range of stakeholders who all bring valuable knowledge and skills and share the social vision.FinanceGwynedd Council has been successful in receiving grant funding from the Cyfenter Fund. “Cyfenter is a project that is administrated by Menter Môn and is financed by the European Regional Development Fund and [Conwy/Denbighshire/Gwynedd/Anglesey] County Councils.
