River Leven Accessibility design - boardwalks and platforms
Descriptions
The Burn Mill Garden area of the Leven River Parks currently exhibits diverse habitats and informal access routes to, and around the river. However, there are several constraints to the area currently being flooding issues, swampy areas, and incidences of anti-social behaviour. The Masterplan for the River Park identified several opportunities to increase access to, and connectivity with, the river that also take into account the natural and cultural heritage of the garden. This project is for the design and build of a suite of features that will support the development and use of the garden, in particular, boardwalks and river edge / viewing platforms. Other features of the Burn Mill Garden, including the shelter and bridge over the river are being taken forward by the River Park Routes project funded by Sustrans in parallel to this project. Existing information on the site conditions, concept designs, and surveys/reports since 2019 will be provided to the successful contractor, who will be expected to work closely with the team working on the Sustrans funded River Park Routes detailed design. We would like tender submissions to ideas and examples of the types of structures or designs that you might envisage using, your experience of similar projects, and details on the methodology of how you would go about designing the platforms and boardwalks.
