Robotic Machining Cell
Descriptions
The University is currently tendering for the construction and delivery of a robot machining cell: the key features of the cell are: construction of a robotic cell with parallel kinematic platform and machining spindle mounted on an articulated robot. The robot has an interchangeable head/end effector to facilitate three main functions: 1) Machining spindle; 2) Hexapod (parallel kinematic motion device that provides six degrees of freedom); and 3) Combined hexapod and spindle. This provides a flexible platform for robot research on machining and performance improvement.
