Descriptions
— Chlorine dioxide units were installed many years ago as a measure to control legionella in various water systems within the hospital. The units were manufactured, installed and maintained by NALCO. This type of equipment is of a specialist nature such that the spares are not available to other suppliers. The Envirox system is a patented part of the NALCO products. Trust Authorising Engineer for water has been approached for advice regarding any suppliers who may be able to undertake the service. A list of contractors was approached, however they were unable to provide the service. The AE advised if another company should offer to maintain the units there will very likely be no guarantee as to operating correctly. Whilst chlorine dioxide units are not being maintained there is a risk of the proliferation of legionella in the water systems.
