As part of the university's capital investment programme, personnel will move from the Oddfellows Hall into the Samuel Alexander building in the summer of 2017 to facilitate the construction of the MECD project. To accomplish this, the University of Manchester wishes to refurbish and remodel elements of the Samuel Alexander building, focusing on the north, south and west wings.The works will include:— The refurbishment of office spaces throughout the north, south and west wings.— Replacement of all services (power, lighting, LPHW heating system (pipework and radiators, data).— Installation of new partitions to convert teaching areas to offices.— Café refurbishment.— IT Cluster refurbishment.— Creation of multiple Language hubs / common rooms to provide a focus for each Language Division.Other potential/desired works include:— Formation of an internal ‘hub’ — remodel of an existing space.— Creation of male and female showers.— Relocation of reception desk (classics wing), including consequential refurbishment works.
