Descriptions
The UK Legal Deposit Libraries (LDLs) (The Bodleian Library, Oxford; the British Library; Cambridge University Library; the National Library of Scotland; the National Library of Wales and Trinity College, Dublin) maintain an archive of ordnance survey digital mapping data for Great Britain and Northern Ireland. As this collection of map data is expected to expand to other formats and producers and new desirable geospatial technologies have become available, a new infrastructure for access to this and other geospatial data is required. To achieve this programme, the participating libraries wish to tender for a contract to one or more suppliers to provide the customisation and maintenance of software technology, as well as the preparation, loading and hosting for these data. This will be comprised of a controlled web-based map viewing application for OS MasterMap and OS Land-Line, with data preparation, loading and hosting facilities and services to import and store the data centrally and securely, as well as the ability to expand and accommodate other formats and types of mapping data from various sources. The contract has an estimated start date of January 2013 and will be for a rolling annual contract, to be agreed by the British Library up to maximum of 5 years.
