The long-term objective of Scale-Up for Success is to improve the business resilience of the food and drink sector in Wales by embedding the knowledge and expertise required food and drink businesses for businesses to continue to grow in an economically sustainable manner. The aim is to help build capacity and confidence in the sector by helping to create better managers across all aspects of the business.The client expects this to be achieved by focus on the following:- Capacity. Businesses may lack the capacity to expand, both in relation to physical infrastructure or in terms of strategic planning and staff required to oversee business growth. Scale-up for Success would be expected to support businesses to develop a strategic plan for growth across the relevant areas of the business.- Capital. Businesses may not be aware of all potential funding opportunities, including grant funding, and commercial investment opportunities such as bank finance or angel investors. The successful contractor would be expected to develop links with relevant third-party financial organisations to support the activities of Scale-up for Success.- Competencies. In order to support the building of the capacity of the Business, the contractor would be expected to provide support to the management of the business to improve aspects such as (but not limited to) supply chain management, financial management, human resource management, as well as seek collaboration with University Business schools. It would be expected that the contractor would co-ordinate activity with the Skills for Success programme in respect of delivery of training within the scope of the Skills for Success programme.-Confidence. Scale-up for Success would be expected to work with businesses to help them improve business confidence, particularly with respect to risk and risk management.- Collaboration. The contractor would be expected to make use of the Food & Drink Wales Cluster network to encourage collaboration between businesses throughout the food & drink supply chain as well as those taking part in Scale-up for Success. In addition, the contractor would be expected to work with the Welsh Government funded Investor Ready program to ensure that there is no duplication of service provision to businesses.
