School Grounds Maintenance- Introduction and General InformationThe County Council currently maintains a total of 84 Primary Schools and 12 High Schools across the County of Flintshire; maintaining a pleasant environment for both pupils and the community using the facilities.The County Council enjoys a reputation for providing a good standard of grounds maintenance and sports facilities and the works described in this specification are to be executed in a manner that enhances that reputation.Maintenance requirements encompass a wide range of horticultural practices designed to create and maintain visually pleasing features and vigorous standards of cleanliness and tidiness. The accompanying specification sets out those standards for particular working practices, sites and features within the Authority’s Schools. For example:Grass maintenance, weed killing, maintenance of shrub beds, rugby and football pitch maintenance, sports facilities i.e. running tracks, playground markings, cricket pitch maintenance, hedge cutting maintenanceArtificial Turf Pitch (ATP)-Introduction and General InformationThe County Council currently maintains a total of 9 ATP courts across the County of Flintshire; maintaining to a good playing surface for both school and community use.The County Council enjoys a reputation for providing a good standard for maintenance of these sports facilities. The works described in this specification are to be executed in a manner that enhances that reputation.Maintenance requirements encompass a wide range of practices. For example:Drag Brushing, power weeping, line marking, top dressing, leaf collection chemical treatments, rolling, litter collection as detailed in the schedule of activities.The contract will commence from January 2015 and is for a period of 3 years with the possibility of an extension for a further 2 years.To request a copy of the Pre Qualification Questionnaire documentation please send an email to procurement@flintshire.gov.uk
