Descriptions

This project aims to scope opportunities to develop an additional genetic improvement network within Defra's Crop Genetic Improvement Platform with a focus on soft-fruit. The project will scope the potential for a network to investigate beneficial traits to improve soft fruit breeding with a focus on enhanced productivity and resource efficiency, sustainability, resilience and quality (including but not limited to nutritional quality and shelf life). The project will assess the viability of genetic improvement to deliver these opportunities and put forward a potential business case for a Soft Fruit Genetic Improvement Network (SFGIN).
