SE1116 - Research: To Assess the Effectiveness of Risk Management Measures to Minimise Migration of Infill from Synthetic Turf Sports Fields
Descriptions
Sport England as the contracting authority is tendering for the supply of the Services. Sport England is seeking through this tendering process to award a contract with a suitably capable Contractor to provide these Services for an initial term of 24 months and a unilateral option of Sport England to extend for two further periods up to a maximum of 12 months. The anticipated contract value is £150,000 over the initial contract period. The estimated annual contract value is £75,000. Sport England are seeking a lead supplier with a high level of independence to the 3G pitch industry and welcome consortium bids which include sports surface consultancies and test houses from the sector. Long pile synthetic turf surfaces provide a valuable asset to sports such as football, rugby union, rugby league, etc. The surfaces are durable and able to sustain high levels of use, allowing many communities to participate in sport throughout the year. It is estimated there are now over 2,000 long pile (3G) synthetic turf fields in the UK. Most of these fields have End of Life Tyre ("ELT" - also known as SBR) infill. ELT infill is cost effective, durable and provides excellent sports properties for the players using the fields.
