Security Man guarding services at our City (NG1 4BU), Clifton (NG11 8NS) & Brackenhurst (NG25 0QF) Campuses to include car park attendants, security patrolling officer and door supervisors with SIA license. Job specification Job Purpose: To ensure as far as practical the provision of a safe and secure environment for staff, students and visitors and to maintain the physical security of all University buildings, property and equipment at all campuses and elsewhere. Principal duties and responsibilities: •To receive and attend reported incidents on University land or at any University owned or managed premises including owned or managed residences/accommodation. Completing incident reports and ensuring that the Security Line Manager is informed as soon as possible of all incidents warranting their attention. •To provide a quick and effective response to fire, panic, intruder alarms, hotspots, bomb threat, suspicious packages and investigate fire activations and evacuate mobility impaired people all in accordance with University security operating procedures, and provide first aid if required. •Checking of buildings ensuring that the buildings are secure. Lock and unlock buildings as and when required and responding to building maintenance problems and reporting maintenance, health and safety hazards accordingly. •To work proactively within a shift to focus on any known security threat and attend team briefings and meetings as and when required. To ensure the policing and enforcement of all security related university policies, procedures and regulations including no smoking policy. •To work in the security control room monitoring all the management systems, dealing with general enquiries and emergency calls and customers at the Security Office Counter. Act as University telephone switchboard operator out of hours. Deal with any instances of difficult/aggressive behaviour by students/staff/visitors in a calm and professional manner and manage the lost/found property and maintain appropriate records along with the authorised distribution and collection of keys. •Patrol car parks and check vehicles are parked correctly and that parking permits are valid and correctly displayed. In cases of non-compliance with regulations, take appropriate action in line with the University policy. •To remove unauthorised persons from University land or premises if safe to do so, including skateboarders, free runners and bmx cyclists and apprehend persons engaged in Criminal activity but only if safe and practical to do so by carrying out dynamic Risk Assessment and following procedures and guidelines. •To assist with emergency lift evacuation procedures.
