Sequencing Analysis Equipment

Descriptions

The ZERO2FIVE Food Industry Centre at Cardiff Metropolitan University is seeking to purchase an instrument capable of both whole genome and next generation sequencing analysis, primarily for the identification of bacterial isolates (average genome size 2-3 Mb) and subsequent evaluation of drug resistant regions. There are various reasons for purchase that are both multipurpose and cross disciplinary. The primary purpose is to evaluate serotypes of bacteria within food processing sites, specifically listeria colonies. Listeria is a robust pathogenic bacteria that is motile and therefore difficult to control within high risk food processing sites. This instrument will be primarily used in order to better understand contamination routes within food manufacturing and processing sites and to support a PhD in this area.
