NRW wished to commission an interdisciplinary study of the shared and contested values held by people in Wales to inform the sustainable management of natural resources and to contribute towards a shared vision for the natural environment in 2050.We envisaged the use of scenarios to provide plausible narratives concerning uncertainty about the state of the world at this time and wanted to elicit those thought most and least likely, and those thought most and least desirable.We further wanted both qualitative and quantitative analysis of the norms and the ways these norms have been internalised with respect to varying assessment of the alternatives presented, coupled with estimates of the Willingness to Pay for the most desired, the Willingness to Accept the least desired and the WTP/WTA for the most and least likely.
