Signage and Interpretation Strategy for the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and Canal World Heritage Site

Wrexham County Borough Council (The Council), in partnership with the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and Canal World Heritage Site Steering Group (including Denbighshire County Council, Shropshire Council and Canal and River Trust), is seeking a consultant to produce a signage and interpretation strategy to determine detailed recommendations for orientation, directional, demarcation and destination signage for the World Heritage Site.The detailed plan will provide recommendations for signage and appropriate costings for:•Gateway/Strategic – signage on major roads •Directional – road signage to direct you towards the different sites within the 11 mile corridor •Orientation – signage to navigate around the sites•Demarcation – signage to let you know when you are inside the World Heritage Site corridor •Destination – point of arrival signage at destinationsThe strategy will make links between destination signage and interpretation identifying how best to communicate to all visitors the extent, range and variety of visitor offer across the whole site and identifying the most appropriate format and recommend locations.
