Descriptions
Each of NHS Tayside and NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde require the supply of Radiotherapy Treatment Planning Systems including system software and hardware and maintenance of the system. The Contractor will also be required to train staff in the operation of the system.The installations are expected to commence in June 2013 and be completed by no later than November 2013.It is essential that the Treatment Planning Systems provide a high level of integration, at both the software and hardware levels, with each of the cancer centre's existing linear accelerators, record and verify (R&V) / radiotherapy management system, imaging facilities and immobilisation techniques. The need to duplicate or import and export data and images must be minimised to maximise service efficiency and workflows.NHS TAYSIDETayside Cancer Centre provides services to approximately 400 000 of Tayside and Fife population. It treats over 1500 radiotherapy patients a year. The treatment planning system will be used to produce a variety of patients' treatment plans from the standard to most complex plans including IMRT, IGRT and VMAT treatments.NHS GREATER GLASGOW & CLYDEThe new equipment will be installed at the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre, Gartnavel General Hospital. The installation will take place in the main Phase 2 building. The Centre provides non-surgical oncological services to around 55 % of the Scottish population, serving a patient catchment area of approximately 2,7 million and is the largest of the five centres in Scotland. Based on around 6 500 referrals per annum, the Centre undertakes over 100 000 treatment sessions on its linear accelerators per annum, offering a number of specialised treatment techniques including IMRT for prostate and head and neck treatment sites, stereotactic radiotherapy and radiosurgery for intracranial lesions and total body Irradiation for bone marrow replacement.
