South Durham University Technical College - Provision of Catering Services - AWARD
Descriptions
UTC is tendering for its onsite catering services, which will offer a fantastic opportunity for a Tenderer to operate and showcase. It is anticipated that the catering services will expand and develop with the South Durham UTC intake, into a fully served facility appropriate and determined by the customer age group. A large area has been planned to accommodate the catering services and will be finished and fitted out as part of the design and build. See Plans in appendix D. UTC are looking for a company that can excel in this particular type of environment and one that can maximise the potential that the facilities offer, as well as working in real partnership with the college, local procurement and stakeholder engagement are key requirements. It is envisaged that the catering services will commence with a snack style/coffee offer with an element of hot food that complies with School Food in England (2015) guidelines and the free school meals requirement under the School Food Plan, and then expand into a more rounded offer once the numbers on site prove its viability. It is a legal requirement for the tenderer to provide ‘free’ school meals to all eligible students from service commencement. These will be at the agreed value, constitution and quality. The cost of these meals will be borne by UTC and credited to the tenderer; it is envisaged that this number will be approximately 5% of the population.
