Southbank Repairs & Maintenance scheme to Queen Elizabeth Hall, Purcell Room & Hayward Gallery.

Descriptions

The Queen Elizabeth Hall, Purcell Room and Hayward Gallery buildings are being updated to meet new legislation and to allow Southbank Centre to provide their ever evolving production and arts programmes. The project is predominately a services replacement and upgrade project with all existing mechanical, electrical and public health and associated services stripped out and replaced to meet modern standards. Some internal spaces in the buildings will undergo refurbishment works which will include new floor, wall and ceiling finishes, replacement or refurbishment of existing joinery, fixtures and fittings, and new sanitaryware. Where parts of the building are not being worked upon but the services are being replaced the architectural works will be limited to the Builders Work In Connection with the services replacement. Key important internal and external features will be renovated; internally this is predominantly concrete surfaces and auditorium seating. The Hayward Gallery rooflights will be replaced. The scheme also includes a new build artist entrance and changing facility which forms an extension to the existing building.
