Special Educational Needs (SEN) Outreach Support to Mainstream Schools

Descriptions

Dorset Council currently has a commissioned Outreach Service whose purpose is to provide specialist support to mainstream settings. The focus of this service is to support only those with the most complex Special Educational Needs (SEN). The aims of this service include increasing the capacity of schools to support pupils with more complex needs to attend mainstream provision through specialist teaching and advice and support which is individual pupil focussed rather than a generic type of need. The Provider shall ensure all staff within the Outreach Service have the relevant and appropriate skills and qualifications to ensure they are credible and able to deliver the service effectively. This will include Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and significant experience of teaching in specialist educational settings as a requirement.
