Descriptions
Sport Ireland, on behalf of the Blueways Partnership (ref Appendix 1 for list of partners), is contracting for the services of a Blueways Coordinator and a Blueways Development Advisor to support the delivery of the Blueways Partnership Action Plan. Blueways are a new outdoor recreation offering, which encourage local people and visitors to engage with the waterscapes through activities such as walking on a trail, canoeing on the lakes and cycling by the canals. Traditionally the natural resources of rivers, canals, lakes and coastal areas have been under-utilised by local communities and visitors. Blueways provides a platform to open up experiences on or beside these waterways. Definition of Blueways: ‘A network of approved and branded multi-activity recreational trails and sites, based on, and closely linked with the water, together with providers facilitating access to activities and experiences.’
