Provision of a Sports and Recreation Facilities Strategy for Limerick City and County Council 2019 -2030.The key objectives of the strategy with regard to Category 1 facilities will be:(1)To develop criteria for the assessment of the adequacy of provision, under or over provision of these facilities. (2)To record and create a database of the existing sports recreation and play facilities provided by Limerick City and Council. Baseline information will be provided by the Council to the appointed consultants who will be required to verify the data and analyse the quantity, quality and distribution of facilities using the agreed criteria.(3)In the context of the agreed criteria, to identify any gaps in existing provision of these facilities in terms of quantity, quality and distribution and devise a strategy with recommendations for future provision and where and how resources should be targeted.Category 2The key objectives of the strategy with regard to Category 2 facilities will be:(1)To develop criteria for the assessment of the adequacy of provision, under-provision or over-provision of these facilities. (2)To develop a policy to guide the Council with respect to provision or support for the provision of such facilities including the development of a set of criteria to guide the Council’s decision-making processes in this regard. Categories 1 and 2The following is an objective with regard to both categories.(1)To examine the existing management and funding structures for facilities owned, managed and leased by or on behalf of Limerick City and County Council and to identify the best model for management of facilities into the future having regard to existing provision and identified needs and anticipated projects.
