SS15 22 — Reception, bulking and transport of residual waste (Canterbury and Thanet areas) for final
Descriptions
This Contract will encompass the provision of reception, handling and waste haulage via a Site/s (i.e. the proposed Provider waste transfer station/s) conveniently located to serve the Canterbury City Council and Thanet District Council administrative areas. This/these haulage Site/s arrangement/s will provide the capacity to receive, control and re-load deposited waste at the approved Site/s and will also provide the means of transferring this Waste to the Allington Waste to Energy facility in the case of residual waste (although any temporary closure may mean diversion into alternative waste treatment sites which may include alternative waste treatment facilities). The Site/s will be used for the reception and bulking of residual waste and bulky waste, street sweeping and other street arisings. In the case of Food Waste — the Site must have the facility to receive and bulk waste to enable the contractor for the East Kent Waste Partnership to haul Food Waste to the final disposal destination. The provision of receiving and bulking of Food Waste for haulage is a separate contractual arrangement that must be arranged during mobilisation by the Provider and the contractor for the East Kent Waste Partnership.The Site/e will be required to have suitably permitted facilities (including weighbridge) to allow off-loading of a Refuse Collection Vehicle (RCV) and other municipal collection vehicles, including bulky household waste and vehicle street sweepings for the Canterbury and Thanet areas. The plant and/or compactor equipment at the transfer Site/s must be able to handle and load waste for onward haulage in appropriate vehicles, primarily to the Allington Waste to Energy facility and landfill site, currently at Shelford, Kent.Waste to be handled under this Contract shall in general be:— Municipal Solid Waste (MSW), including residual household waste, street sweepings and all other street arisings, bulky household waste and fly tipping; and— Separately collected household Food Waste derived from MSW.The Contract commenced on 5.11.2015 and will continue for a period of 2 years with an option to extend the Initial Term in 2 phases: the first being for a period of 1 year (12 months) and the second for a further period of 1 year (12 months) up to a maximum extension period of 2 years (24 months) unless terminated in accordance with the Conditions of Contract on the Kent Business Portal.
