Stone Cladding Repairs and Restoration
Descriptions
Andover Guildhall is a grade II* listed building that was constructed in 1825. The property, which functions as a town hall, comprises a two storey building which houses a restaurant on the ground floor with access to the town hall located at the rear of the building. The existing Bath stone cladding to the building is to be repaired and restored. The cladding has areas where stone has become loose and where it has decayed. The building has also been subject to many inappropriate repairs (approximately 150) over the years using incorrect materials and techniques. These older repairs are to be corrected. Other works include the installation of new lead weathering and flashing to the perimeter of the building at parapet level as well as the redecoration of the timber windows. The works are to be carried out in accordance with the previously approved listed building consent permission and the conditions containing within it. A copy of the Listed Building Consent decision is included as an appendix to the Pre-construction Information document. The Main Contractor is required to programme and co-ordinate the work of all subcontractors and should plan for the works to be completed in 7 weeks.
