Stories Campaign

Descriptions

The West Midlands Growth Company (WMGC) will help to create new jobs, expand existing businesses and attract new businesses and investment to the region, aligned to the ambitions set out in the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) Strategic Economic Plan. WMGC was established in April 2017. It continues to operate leisure and business tourism programmes Visit and Meet Birmingham, inward investment programme Business Birmingham and its partnership programme. The Story campaign The West Midlands Growth Company makes its mark by improving perceptions of the West Midlands, and attracting businesses, jobs, tourists and investment to the region. By improving the national and international reputation of the region it will help to increase the sense of pride of those who live and work in the West Midlands. We have developed a place marketing strategy which will create, embed and communicate a sense of place that is owned by stakeholders across the West Midlands, and will be underpinned by a range of in-depth perceptions research. As a region we 'make it' happen and we want to tell our story to the world, to do this we will team up with ambassadors and content creators. All our activity will show businesses, event organisers and visitors why they should join us and be part of the West Midlands. The Story campaign will be a multifaceted dynamic campaign that give stakeholders many assets and opportunities to demonstrate sector strengths and encourage investment. The Approach There are four brand pillars Heritage, People, Place and Spirit (see full description in brand guidelines) that give the West Midlands strength. The pillars reflect the aspects of our place from which we can build compelling communication to various audiences. They also underpin the character of the West Midlands and together they shape the distinctiveness of our region. By building upon the four brand pillars we will create a shared vision so businesses and organisations across the West Midlands can tell a common story, giving a clear message about what the area stands for, its strengths and its future.
