Swale Borough Council operate 3 street markets in the towns of Faversham, Sheerness and Sittingbourne.Sheerness market is a traditional street market located close to Sheerness Town Centre at Rose Street car-park, Tuesdays and Saturdays. Faversham street market ‘the Charter market' surrounds Guidhall and onto Court Street and functions Tuesday, Friday and Saturday. Sittingbourne Market is situated in the Forum car-park and is held each Friday. The objective of Swale Borough Council is to secure an operator for its markets in Sittingbourne, Sheerness and Faversham. The contractor will be able to contribute to the Council's vision of creating a street trading and market experience that is diverse and vibrant. Key drivers:— To boost street trading, particularly markets, as an integral part of the shopping experience in Swale,— To establish new reasons for shoppers to visit the markets, extend dwell time of existing shoppers and increase shoppers' spend in the town,— To provide markets as a place for fresh affordable healthy foods,— To recognise the integral role of other street trading options that add to the economic and vitality of the town centre,— To link the markets to the boroughs history and consider opportunities to harness this in any future town centre place brand management strategy.
