The project will strengthen the identity of rural Carmarthenshire as an all year round, quality tourist destination by improving the quality of the existing tourism product through the provision of financial support. It will assist in extending the season and promote Carmarthenshire as an all year round destination, ensure tourism businesses/facilities are able to make the most of technology to remain competitive, safeguard existing and create new employment opportunities within the tourism sector and instil a sense of place within the community.The purpose of this tender is to appoint a suitable organisation to deliver the ‘Strengthening the Tourism Appeal of Rural Carmarthenshire’ grant scheme on behalf of the Carmarthenshire Partnership – Grwp Cefn gwlad and the Lead Body.The aim of the project is to strengthen the appeal of rural Carmarthenshire as an all year round, quality tourist destination via product development and promotion in eligible rural wards of Carmarthenshire.The main objectives of the project are to provide capital grants to: - improve the quality of the existing tourism product in rural Carmarthenshire through the provision of financial support to improve/upgrade existing accommodation/facilities; - encourage the ‘greening’ of tourism operations; - assist via implementation of the above product investment in extending the season and promote Carmarthenshire as an all year round, quality destination; - safeguard existing and create new employment opportunities within the tourism sector; - instil a sense of place within rural communities that heightens the visitor experience.The project comprises of a £1.59m capital grant scheme which will provide capital grants to existing tourism providers to help: - meet changing consumer needs and expectations; - support greener tourism business practices.The maximum total contract value is £242,522 which is inclusive of match funding. There is a minimum requirement for the supplier to contribute 20.083% match funding towards the total contract cost.
