Supertram Vehicle Asset Condition Review
Descriptions
South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive (SYPTE) is seeking to appoint a suitably experienced provider of the above Services. The estimated value of the project is between £30,000 and £50,000. In December 1997, SYPTE sold the operations subsidiary of Sheffield's tram system, South Yorkshire Supertram Limited (SYSL), to Stagecoach Holdings PLC. Stagecoach holds this concession until March 2024 and is responsible for operating and maintaining the system until then. As part of SYPTE's plans to prepare for the end of the current concession, Sheffield City Region (SCR) submitted a bid to DfT and was successful in securing funding to assist with the production of an Outline Business Case (OBC), which will present options for the future of the tram network. SYPTE has recently commissioned a review of infrastructure assets across the Supertram system. The PTE now wishes to appoint a consultant to: •review the condition of the 25 Siemens Duewag vehicles; •estimate their remaining economic life; •investigate options for renewal or refurbishment; •provide costs and a programme for the options and information on future operating costs. Full details and documentation are available on the SYPTE website at www.sypte.co.uk/contracts
