Supplier Engagement Event - Day Care & Day Opportunities for those with Learning Disabilities

Newport City council is inviting organisations to participate in a Supplier Engagement process for Day Care & Day Opportunities.Over the next year or so some of the services that the Council provides for vulnerable people and their carers will be changing.These changes are necessary to ensure that the we can continue to provide high quality social services to increasing numbers of people who require our support. We also need to make sure that our services are fair to everyone whilst making sure people with more complex care needs can access the specialist support they need.The Council wants to give organisations who may wish to supply services the opportunity to be involved from the very start in helping develop new services. In the next few months we will be asking people who use the following services what they want to change and what they want to stay the same:- Day Care / Day opportunities – we are looking at how we provide day opportunities for learning disabled people. We would like to see a lot more opportunities for learning disabled people to access day opportunities within the community.- Services for younger learning disabled people – we are looking at how we can meet more of the needs of learning disabled people locally. We will be talking to younger learning disabled people about what they want,the aim of which is to provide information on the business opportunities likely to be commissioned by these potential procurements.The purpose of the Supplier Engagement is for the Council to gather the views of Participants to meet the following objectives:- inform specification and process development;- assist the project team in developing the procurement(s) to maximise competition and ensure sufficient market interest in the procurement(s);- to understand how best to engage with local and regional organisations, as well as organisations with different operating and commercial model that may be interested in supplying some or all of the services and to determine any particular risks and issues that need to be further considered.NOTE: To register your interest in this notice and obtain any additional information please visit the Sell2Wales Web Site at http://www.sell2wales.gov.uk/Search/Search_Switch.aspx?ID=11067.
