Metro has made a successful bid for funding from the Clean Bus Technology Fund run by the Department for Transport. The funding is to fit SCRT (Selective Catalytic Reduction Technology) to 119 BMC Condor Euro 3 vehicles fitted with Cummins ISBe-220 engines used as part of the fleet allocated to operate the Yellow School Bus programme.This project is specifically designed to reduce NOx and PM emissions from buses and help improve air quality in West Yorkshire, particularly in relation to sensitive area around schools. This will be achieved by reducing tailpipe NOx emissions by a minimum of 70 % through the fitment of NOx Abatement Equipment.
