English Heritage is inviting tenders for the supply of a Bench Top X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometer.This will be used to determine the chemical composition (and spatial variation in composition) of a wide range of materials related to the historic environment. Nevertheless the main focus will be research into historic high-temperature technologies through the examination and analysis of glass, slag, ceramic and metal samples. The goods supplied should be capable of providing high-quality research data to be used in the production of publications in peer-reviewed international journals in the fields of materials science and the historic environment.
