A requirement for Senior and Consultant Nurses uniform has been identified by NHS Wales. It has been agreed that further differentiation is required for Senior and consultant Nurses from the current All Wales Nurses & Midwives uniform in terms of both style and colour Style and ColourFor Senior Nurses, the requirement is a smart top in navy with red piping around the collar; a mandarin style collar for the female uniform with a zip front (centered), a dentist style collar for the male uniform with the zip front (off centre) and a unisex trouser in navy. For Consultant Nurses, the agreed style in peacock blue with navy contrasting piping around the collar and navy trousers. All garments will be embroidered with the NHS Wales Logo, and the Welsh Speaking Logo when required. The contract will also include the requirement for a maternity top and an ethnic top, both available made to order. SizingAll garments are to be available in sizes X-Small to 4X- large (x8 sizes) as per the current All Wales Nurses Uniform agreement. FabricThe fabric will be the same specification as the All Wales Nurses Uniform - a poly cotton blend 65/35 +/- % which is a standard specification for the NHS. The weight of the fabric specified will be between 195gsm-215gsm. It has been confirmed that 195gsm is the lightest fabric that can be used for both the mandarin style and dentist style to ensure the collar remains rigid and upright. A softer handle finish fabric will be specified, in line with the All Wales Nurses Uniform.
