The Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000 introduced requirements on local authorities to plan for looked after children so that they have the support they need as they make the transition from care to adulthood. This has led to an increased number of Young People eligible for assistance and a greater demand for accommodation and services to support Young People into independence. The aim of this Contract is to secure good quality supported accommodation services in Cambridgeshire. The successful Providers will provide accommodation and support to Young People aged between 16 and 18 years old who are referred by the Council. The Provider will deliver services to meet Young People's needs with an emphasis on supporting Young People to develop or sustain their ability to live independently as outlined in the Pathway Plan. The Provider will demonstrate its effectiveness by supporting Young People to achieve greater independence and reduce Young People's reliance on their support services. The needs, best interests and welfare of Young People will be at the forefront of the service being provided. This is a Rolling Select List which has opened on an annual basis since 2012. The Contract period was for 3 years from July 2012. The optional extension of 2 years has been taken up, so the Contract will expire on the 31st July 2018.
