Supported housing for homeless young people
Descriptions
Wirral Borough Council invites applications to tender for a contract to provide an accommodation-based housing support service for 25 homeless young people aged 16-21 It is recognised that it is in the best interests of most young people to live in the family home or with responsible adults within their wider family network. Unfortunately, there will be occasions where it is untenable for the young person to do this and resultantly they become at risk of becoming homeless. The aim of the service described within this specification, is to reduce the number of young people aged 16 -21 becoming homeless in Wirral, and to help young people that are already homeless, access appropriate accommodation and services. The Council’s vision is to support young people to move towards independence; whether this is to a longer-term supported housing service, permanent accommodation or to return home, as appropriate to the individual needs of the young person.
