Awarded
Syrian Refugee Resettlement Programme Casework Support Service
Descriptions
On 29 January 2014, the Home Secretary made a statement to Parliament outlining the Government’s intention to relocate to the UK some of the most vulnerable Syrian refugees, displaced to neighbouring countries by the ongoing conflict. The Prime Minister announced in September 2015 that the United Kingdom will accept 20,000 Syrian refugees, for the period of this Parliament, under the terms of the Syrian Resettlement Programme (SRP). The Home Office asked all local authorities to consider taking individuals under the SRP. Suffolk Public Sector Leaders agreed to participate in the scheme and accept a maximum of up to 200 individuals over the 5 years of the scheme. Therefore Suffolk County Council is looking to appoint a suitably qualified organisation to deliver resettlement support services for families and individuals displaced as a result of the ongoing conflict in Syria. An interim contract was put in place for the first year to allow the Council to meet urgent need and we are now ready to run a formal procurement process to allow a new contract for the required services to commence from 1st April 2017. The contract period will be for 3 years with the option to extend for up to a further period of 36 months.
