Descriptions
The NIHE wishes to enter into a concession arrangement with a private company who will fund, supply, installand maintain for the Contract term, solar photovoltaic (PV) panels initially for up to a maximum of 1 000 NIHEdwellings. The Contractor will devise a business model where it pays for the installation and maintenanceof solar PV panels in social housing but recoups its investment from revenues generated from RenewableObligation Certificates (ROCs) and the electricity export tariff. The model will be one where the NIHE is notrequired to pay for anything to do with supply, installation or associated maintenance works to the panels, itsaccessories and any consequential maintenance to the dwelling. These costs will be borne by the Contractorfor the life of the project. NIHE tenants will benefit from free electricity during daylight hours with the Contractorobtaining any export tariff for unused electricity.
