The Northern Ireland Housing Executive has entered into a concession arrangement with a private company who will fund, supply, install and maintain for the contract term solar photovoltaic (PV) panels initially for up to a maximum of 1 000 NIHE dwellings.The Contractor's right to install solar panels (up to a maximum of 1 000) on tenants roofs has been granted by way of a licence.The Contractor has devised a business model where it pays for the installation and maintenance of solar PV panels in social housing but recoups its investment from revenues generated from Renewable Obligation Certificates (ROCs) and the electricity export tariff.
