The Northern Ireland Housing Executive (NIHE) has recently commenced a major transformation programme with the objective of achieving excellence in all aspects of its business. The vision for the programme is to ensure the NIHE delivers top class services in all areas of its work, meeting the needs of the communities it serves both currently and in the future, providing value for money services delivered by high performing, skilled and motivated staff.The programme will aim to ensure consistent approaches to business, customer and people excellence – the “golden threads” that should run through the whole Housing Executive whilst still allowing distinct focus on our strategic Regional Service enabling and Landlord Service delivery roles. The organisation wishes to introduce a recognised business improvement discipline that will support the redesign of how it performs its business, driving out waste and inefficiency in order to add value.The objectives of the business improvement programme are to:— understand the ‘what' and ‘why' of current performance of the organisation's core functions;— identify barriers to achieving optimum effectiveness in terms of customer service,— redesign systems and processes to optimise performance.
