The Health Board is seeking to commission a range of complementary therapies funded by charitable donations. The Cancer division appreciates how much complementary therapies benefit patients and are therefore commissioning a complementary therapies service across the division.The provision of specialist assessment and Complementary Therapy treatments will involve delivering high quality, personalised holistic treatment programmes. This will aim to promote and support patient’s rights by promoting individual choice, respecting beliefs and ensuring privacy and dignity at all times.The Cancer division plan to implement phase 1 and 2 of the plan together as below:First Stage – Procure complementary therapist/s to Alaw Unit equivalent to 8 sessions (4 hrs each) per week. The role of the therapist/s will include service delivery on Alaw Day Unit and Alaw Ward for all Cancer patients (Oncology, Haematology and Palliative Care). Procure 2 sessions initially in the outpatient department of North Wales Cancer Treatment Centre.Second Stage – Increase the complementary therapist/s session in NWCTC equivalent to 8 sessions (4 hrs each) per week. The role of the therapist/s will include service delivery within the Heulwen Day Unit, outpatients, Enfys Ward and Radiotherapy department for Cancer Patients (Oncology, Haematology and Palliative Care.It would be expected that the therapist is trained in a minimum 3 complementary therapies and is a member of a professional body. We would like minimum of three therapies such as relaxation, massage, reflexology, visualisation, reiki, etc.
