TD1093 — Seizure, Kennelling and Maintenance of Stray Dogs.

Descriptions

Each year Derby City Council receives or collects approximately 590 stray dogs from across the city. A significant number of these strays have been micro-chipped or have collars which enable us to very quickly identify the owners and to immediately return the dogs to them. When we cannot identify the owner, the dog is taken to a kennel. Whilst the dog is in the kennel we must make reasonable efforts to either reunite the dog and owner or to re-home the dog if the owner cannot be found or will not have the dog back. After 7 days, if the dog has not been re-homed we have the choice of destroying the animal, although where there is a reasonable probability that the dog will find a home we frequently choose to continue to kennel it until a new owner is found.Derby City Council are looking for a service provider to offer Seizure, Kennelling and Maintenance of Stray Dogs services across the city.
